What’s the Difference Between a Wedding Planner and a Wedding Coordinator?
If you’re entering your bridal era and wondering what the difference is between a wedding planner and a wedding coordinator, you’re not alone! I’ve chatted with so many brides who are just starting their planning journey, and this is one of the most common questions that comes up. So let’s break it down.

✨ What Does a Wedding Planner Do?
A wedding planner is hired to take the reins on planning your wedding from start to finish. You’ll often see the title “Wedding Planner and Designer” and that “designer” role means they’ll help curate a cohesive wedding aesthetic. Think color palettes, florals, table settings, signage and all the Pinterest-worthy details.
Planners help manage vendors, budgets, and logistics, and they’re usually by your side throughout the process and on the big day.
🎯 What Does a Wedding Coordinator Do?
A wedding coordinator — like me! — steps in closer to your wedding day to make sure all of your hard work and planning come together seamlessly. If you and your partner are the hands-on type and have been designing your day with care, a coordinator helps bring your vision to life without the stress.
We typically come on board a few weeks or months out, learn your wedding day vision, connect with your vendors, and create a detailed timeline. On the actual day, we’re there from start to finish, managing the behind-the-scenes so you can fully enjoy every moment with your people.
🧐 How Do I Know Which One Is Right for Me?
Such a great question! Based on what I’ve seen working with couples, there are usually two big things to consider:
Your budget! Both planning and coordination are luxury services, but coordination tends to be more accessible if you’re working with a budget and still want a professional touch.
Your vibe! Are you the DIY bride who thrives on planning, crafting, and organizing every little detail? If so, that’s amazing! But when it’s time to walk down the aisle and soak in the day, handing things off to a coordinator lets you be fully present and stress-free.
